Twinterview // Emily Sprague

Happy Tuesday! Today is the next installment in our series of Twinterviews (Twitter-length interviews, that is), where every question is answered by an amazingly Inspirational Susty Partier in 140 characters... more or less. Emily Sprague works on humanitarian crisis, explores, and indulges a healthy level of curiosity. See below for more!

1. Describe yourself personally.

I'm a humanitarian designer and the focus of my work in architecture is community- based post-disaster reconstruction.

During the week I lead the New York office of MGA, where I'm researching the impacts of post-disaster housing strategies and developing our reconstruction program. During the weekend, I explore!

2. What inspires you?

Learning! I'm very curious and learning from other people always introduces something amazing and unpredictable into my life.

3. Word association: “Susty”?

4. What good media have you consumed recently that we should check out?

I love the articles on the 99u! I'm also ever-looking-forward to the next episode of Radiolab. Jad, Robert, and team are beautiful storytellers.

5. Your favorite eco-friendly living or partying tip?

My general philosophy is to read labels and think through what I'm consuming. It's pretty common sense but once it becomes a habit it makes a big difference.

6. Life lesson you want to pass on?

Always be kind, even if you're having a terrible day. Talk to strangers. Nurture and support the aspirations and talents of the people in your life.

7. Your favorite Susty Party product and why?

The paper straws. They're just so much fun!
Thanks, Emily!
