We, the gals at Susty Party have been wrapped up in our sweaters and scarves even inside the office in Brooklyn, constantly sipping on hot tea or coffee. We dedicate this detox tea recipe for those of us who are keeping warm and cozy at home to avoid this weather as much as possible! Try this cup of tea with a cozy blanket and a good book, and you are all set!
Fresh Ginger Root
To make for one serving, start heating 12oz of water in a small pot. While you’re waiting for the water to boil, start peeling approximately 2oz of ginger root. For more surface area, slice the peeled ginger thinly. Add the sliced ginger, 1 cinnamon stick and 2 cloves to the water and bring to a boil. Let the ingredients simmer for 15-20 minutes. Throw out the cloves and ginger when finished but you can save the cinnamon stick for your next cup. Stir in 1 to 3 drops cayenne extract (depending on your preference of spiciness), 1 teaspoon honey, and juice from ½ lemon.
