Born in Brooklyn, NY, Susty Party creates disposable tableware and home goods that are eco-friendly yet colorful, highly-functional, party-ready, and responsibly made. All Susty Party products - our plates, bowls, cups, straws, cutlery, tablecloths, napkins, garbage bags and paper towels - are made from renewable, recycled or sustainably harvested materials, are plastic-free, and are verified to biodegrade in a commercial compost!
At an early age, I developed a strong love of nature. My parents are underwater photographers for National Geographic and I grew up traveling the world with them. I then went on to major in Environmental Studies at Oberlin College.
I combined my passion for nature with my love of entertainment and created environmentally-themed performance art pieces and parties! But I couldn't find colorful and sustainable party tableware. That's when I met Jessica at a party. She joined as a co- owner, we launched our own product line, and the rest is history!
I grew up in the suburbs of Washington, DC as a spunky kid who could beat all the boys in basketball. I ended up going to Harvard where I studied Economics and was captain of the Women's Basketball Team. After graduating in 2006, I had landed my dream job and moved to New York to work on Wall Street.
Everything was great, but coming from a family of entrepreneurs, I eventually got the itch to start my own thing and I knew that I wanted it to have a positive impact on the world. That's when I ran into Emily at a party and knew that Susty was for me!

B Corporations are the next C Corporations! Certified B Corporations meet rigorous, independent standards of social and environmental performance. To get certified, Susty Party was evaluated on how we create greater economic opportunity, strengthen local communities, and preserve the environment. We passed the test with a GIIRS rating of 98.4, well above the industry average.
When something is compostable, it means that all materials in the item will break down into usable compost (e.g. mulch or soil-conditioning material) in a safe and timely manner (i.e. in approximately the same time as the materials with which it is composted) in an appropriate composting facility, or in a home compost pile or device. To us, this is a beautiful thing.
Our cutlery, plates and bowls, napkins and straws have tested home compostable. Rip the product into small pieces to speed up the process.
All Susty Party products meet the ASTM D6400, D6868 or EN13432 standards to biodegrade in an industrial compost facility in under 90 days.Facilities may not be available in your area. If you live in Portland, Seattle, or San Francisco you can toss the products in your curbside composting bin. And, in the next year or two, curbside composting will come to NYC, and beyond! Susty Party products are made from plants, not from oil. But not just any plants. We carefully choose materials that are renewable resources: rapidly growing plants, trees harvested from sustainably managed forests, and recycled or salvaged plant material. We avoid non-renewable resources such as petroleum based plastics. It is important to us that we use the earth’s resources responsibly by only producing with what can be replenished.
We avoid harmful chemicals, plastics or dyes by choosing the safest and healthiest materials that we can find! From edible or FDA food-contact approved ingredients, to water-based inks, to elemental-chlorine free dyes, our products are verified free of any toxicity when they break down into soil.
